False
eyelashes have been applied since the beginning of the 20th century.
Hollywood film stars were the first to apply false eyelashes – with long
and bushy eyelashes they had majestic look which helped them stand out
in the crowd. By tradition, a film star should have had magnificent
look, but as not everyone could brag about good eyelashes, applying
false ones helped them out significantly.
At first, false eyelashes were made of fringe. This is how false eyelashes history
starts. Fringe was carefully attached to thread and by means of glue
this pattern was affixed to eyelid. Obviously, these eyelashes failed to
look naturally; besides, they lived a short life – just for several
hours. As the procedure was rather expensive, only famous people could
afford it. Moreover, artificiality of eyelashes was hardly noticed on
TV.
Years went by, no new tendencies in false eyelashes history were
observed. Applying false eyelashes was not that popular and it was
supposed to perish soon, however in 50s the procedure became popular
again. Applying false eyelashes by means of fringe was advanced and film
stars could not resist the burning desire to catch the audience’s
attention by their magnificent eyelashes.
Japan has taken a step forward in false eyelashes history.
It is known as a country wherein beauty arouses genuine interest and
new methods are produced to reach natural perfection. Japanese strived
to make false eyelashes as similar to natural eyelashes as possible.
They tailored false eyelashes that duplicated the real ones. First,
false eyelashes were put together in bunches and were glued to eyelid.
Then, a revolutionary event took place in false eyelashes history –
in 2006 Japan has introduced lash-by-lash technique! That was a great
finding in false eyelashes history, as each false lash was attached to
each natural lash which looked at most naturally. The fringe was
replaced by a material that looked like sable and mink’s fur. The
lash-by-lash technique has become extremely popular and nowadays
millions of coquettes around the world resort to it to make their
eyelashes perfect.
