Oops! You were diagnosed with eyelash mite and you know nothing about
it? Just keep cool; medicine has a number of weapons to fight this
enemy. Your job is to learn what eyelash mite is and what basic steps to
take to stanch it.
Eyelash mite is known as demodicosis. Demodex mite
living on eyelashes can cause this disease. Every fourth has this mite
on eyelashes, but does not even guess its existence. The thing is that
eyelash mite can live on eyelashes for a long time without revealing
itself. But under favorable conditions, such as immunity diseases and
gastrointestinal disturbances, the eyelash mite puts itself on the map –
one starts to suffer from blepharitis and even visual impairment.
Elderly people and children are mostly affected by the disease. The main
symptoms of the disease are: eye fatigue, itch, edema, hyperaemia of
eyelids. Along with high contagiousness, these symptoms help to diagnose
the disease even at external visual examination. A patient can have
damaged eyelid (eyelashes are stuck together), common sties, recurrent
acne, or psoriasis. Laboratory research is pretty simple and it does not
require special preparation. Four eyelashes are taken from the superior
eyelid of the patient and four eyelashes are taken from his/her
interior eyelid. Using a drop of alkali, a doctor examines the eyelashes
under a microscope – thus eyelash mite can be easily detected.
To get rid of demodicosis you should treat your immune system. Your
doctor will subscribe the necessary treatment for you. But mind, please,
that when eyelash mite dies, it releases toxic
substances, which should be neutralized (requires additional treatment).
A special eyelid massage helps to take toxins out. Unfortunately, this
massage is available for professionals only.
Treatment for eyelash mite takes some time, but don’t give up and the damned thing will leave your body forever.
